OROPOPO is a husband and wife duo who make jewelry and leather objects in their New Mexico studio drawing from the iconography of the American Southwest. Karole's professional background is in architecture and structural engineering. The Oropopo name is from her birthplace on the coast of Venezuela. Grady is a native of New Mexico, a writer, and literary editor; he has specialized in desert literature and its aesthetics. Together, they refine a narrative that associates site and culture with contemporary technology.
These earrings are inspired by summer nights on the Caribbean jungle beaches singing Lithuanian folk songs while my uncles and aunts played guitar.
Saulė Earrings - means “sun” in Lithuanian. 2 1/4” diameter, leather circles and silver ear wire.
Mėnulis Earrings- means “moon” in Lithuanian. 2 1/4” diameter. Leather circle and silver ear wire.
All the pieces are real foiled metallic leather .
